Pow Days, Shred Days, Fun Days, Slush Days, Another Day in Paradise...The season has come to an End!

Wow..the 2011/2012 season was one of the best yet and full of many wonderful powder days, slush days, and just all out fun days in BrianHead's own version of "Paradise".  I spent many, many days at Brianhead Resort for this ski season, and let me tell you this was the place to be!! I got to hang with so many new/old friends and progressed on many new levels in park/powder/ and all mountain.  As for all of you out there..I hope that you made it out for a few days this season (or maybe more!!) and enjoyed yourselves immensely.  Skiing is one of the greatest past times I have ever come to know and the feeling of a great day of riding..weather sunny, slushy, powder, or a park day..is an unexplainable feeling of happiness that can only be achieved by getting out there and experiencing it yourself.  We have a whole summer to pump ourselves up for next year..which we hope will bring MUCH more powder days and spring days.. but as for this season, Thank you to everyone who made it the BEST ever, because you truly did!! So many perfect days will be engraved in my memory to reminisce over on those hot summer days on the beach. :)

Well I have a ton of pictures from the past two weeks of Brianhead events, ranging from the Spring Carnival to the Easter Carnival!! I hope you all were able to make it out for either of these weekends..because what a good time we had!!

So I'll start with the Spring Carnival weekend.
All of the local shredders were up on this weekend to enter in the Pond Skimming event (including myself!!) It was a blast to watch everyone either make it all the way across the pond..or not. I dressed in my swim attire and brought a towel for this year's pond skim.. only because I have learned from past experiences of pond skim events :)

This is me while going across the pond and after I made it..I was so happy I didn't get all wet!

Me and all the local Chick Riders from Vegas getting ready for the pond skim..They all were so close to making it..(We were so nervous!! )

This is my lovely boyfriend Jake doing the pond skim..and this was right before he caught edge and had an EPIC fall!

This one is a park picture courtesy of Mike Saemisch (Brianhead's local photographer and epic skier) captured the Spring Carnival Weekend.

The next weekend was the Easter Carnival! I did not participate in any of the events..but they were all successful and some lucky shredder found the Easter Egg with a Free Season Pass for the 2012/2013 season! (Lucky....)

My wonderful parents came up to get their last days of the season in..and boy did they luck out! It was sunny and warm all weekend.  My dad and I skied a TON of slush runs!
Okay so I just have to say.. slushy runs are nearly kind of similar to powder runs but BETTER..okay maybe not.. :) BUT Once the snow is suuuuper slushed up.. it is extremely forgiving (like powder) but it never gets skied out!! Yes.. okay so maybe we were getting a little desperate for a final powder day.. But I have proof! My Dad and I made figure 8's in the slush...

Me and My Dad on Easter Day!! (Who by the way is one of the most INCREDIBLE skiers I have ever seen..he has so much style and technique!!)

Ahh so pumped for the slush!

Me and my boyfriend Jake hanging out! (He really wanted to be in a blog this season..so I had to get him in :)..you're the best Jakey!! )

Okay so I went up this last Thursday when I heard we had nearly 6 inches of new snow..in mid April?! What!? oh you betcha I was there to catch some pow turns... and yes we are expecting any where from 42 inches by the end of this final weekend!!

Well it has been one of the best seasons of our lives and I hope everyone was able to make the most out of it.. Hope everyone has a GREAT summer and we will see you next season for Another Day in Paradise!! Will miss you all so much!!

Ohhh, the powder and sun!!

It's nearly April..can you believe this season has almost come to an end?! But it surely has been one of the best -ever.  About a week and a half ago we had one of the best pow storms of the season!! In mid-March..crazy right?.  Although because of my class schedule I was not able to get most of the fresh turns from the storm on Monday and Tuesday..on a previous Saturday night it snowed 20 inches..and I got to ski that Sunday! I took some great turns..it was some of the most fresh light and fluffy stuff of the season..and who better to ride with on a day like this? None other than a fellow blogger/great pow skier/photographer- Mike Saemisch!!

He got some great shots of me on this day...

( ^^^This one made it into the "Powder Alert Email" for Brian Head and the SUU Newspaper..Thanks Mike you're the best!)

Once the pow was skied out..the sun shone bright and set us up nicely for an epic week and weekend of sun and fun..it seems that every day I get to ride up here in the Head is a blessing..so lucky to ride such a fun mountain with the greatest people in the world!!  We must cherish every last day of shredding we get towards the end of this 2011/12 season...every day is a shredtastic one!!

One sunny funny day with the chick krew.. Katie and Camille, two of the best chick riders on the hill!!

Me and Dallon (or "Dally-Bear" as I like to call him) spent this day lapping and hiking park to improve and learn some new tricks on some of the features in the BH terrain parks..so fun!

   Ahhh..Brian Head...

This weekend forecasts call for sun and high temps..it is the Spring Carnival here in Brian Head! It will be filled with great people, exciting events and Pond Skimming.. which I will be doing!! See you all this weekend, happy shred!

Sunny skies and the fun continues at Brian Head Resort!!

As we near the end of this shredtastic season of riding...the fun continues at an all time high. Even though the snow is not 100% perfect the rest of the conditions on the mountain, including the sunny skies and high temps, are prime. The sun is shining, the shredders are stoked and it seems that Brian Head is the place to be!! The snow has began to turn a light shade of brown..we haven't quite figured out how this happened yet.. ( I keep fantasizing about the whole mountain being covered in chocolate ice cream instead of snow.. now how amazing would that be?!)

Dear Snow Gods-
From your admirers in BH ski resort..please send us a worthy dump!! We have poured out many drinks and prayed very hard for the white fluffy stuff (and indeed we have received our share)..but, we would love one more dump before the season's close..and also we would love for the snow to be white again! Powder pigs from all over will be grateful!!

But really, although the snow is indeed slightly brown, it is nothing more than spring conditions! Slushy runs are so much fun...

Brian Head Terrain Parks has been doing a great job at keeping up the two parks at BH this season and recently redone the intermediate/advanced Galaxy Park.  The park has many new features that combine creativity and skill to really set a new challenge for the shredders..Come check it out!! We also still have a beginner park with many progressive features to practice new jibs and progress on new levels of gnar..

Just shredding with one of my favorite chick riders..Breanna, she kills it!!

A goggle pic with the Dallon and the crew!!

Another lift pic on a beautiful day!!

The forecast calls for a storm over the next four days (we could get up to 18 inches..cross your fingers!!)  I hope everyone has had a great week and gets a chance to shred a few more times before the season is over. The conditions are prime and it is a perfect time to shred here at Brian Head Resort!!!

Great White Weekend started with a 'Great White Week!!'

Woaaah..another dump in such a short period of time...fantastic!!! During this past week Brian Head Resort received a few different storms racking up 15 to 20 inches of new snow!!..our base continues to increase and the powder continues to be shredded! Although I was not able to make it up for every single individual pow-dump due to my class schedule.. I'm sure Powder Pigs from all over enjoyed the fresh stuff!!

All the snow came just in time for the official round two of "The Great White Weekend" in Brian Head Resort!  On Saturday there were a few sponsors from Las Vegas including Red Bull..to accompany the Utah Shredders with some great tunes and LOTs of free red bull..now let me tell you when there is free RedBull at a ski resort it can get pretty rowdy and entertaining..I have never seen so many pumped shredders up there at once!!  Although wind caused a few lifts to be shut down for part of the day..with good friends, crazy shredders, lots of redbull, sunshine, and beautifully groomed parks..the day reached awesomeness of epic-proportions regardless.

When I went into the lodge on Saturday to take a quick ski break..I happened to run into the Ski Utah Yeti!! Could help but grab a super stoked pic with the big guy!! ( I secretly would like one of these in my front yard...)

Also, managed to score a pic with Larry and Roger..two of Brian Head's FINEST local employees..these guys are the best and if you get the chance to meet em..don't hesitate!!!

And when you thought Brian Head Resort couldn't get any more fun... try tubing!! This was my first time ever tubing and boy was I missing out for the longest time!  Definitely a great, cheap way to enjoy a quick thrill ride..I recommend tubing to all.

This week/weekend was awesome..one of many!! We still have tons of epic weekends waiting for us in Brian Head Resort before season's end..and we may even get some more big dumps too! Hope everyone has an awesome week and gets the most out of their time on the mountain!!!

With nearly 40 + inches of new snow in a week...what more could we ask for!?!?

Well we could ask for another powder storm..but really, with two to three large dumps last week..my "powder fix" was definitely achieved!! I hope all you powder pigs out there got what you've been waiting for..some of that famous Utah Powder.  After the storm last Monday the 13th that dumped over 2 feet..Saturday night it snowed around 4 inches, and Sunday nearly 13!! Our base has increased to nearly 48 inches..we have coverage!! No more tree stumps or rocks for us this season.

Sunday during the foot dump..
Talk about endless tracks this day..it was one of the best of the season and I hope all of you were able to catch a few Pow-Turns!!
Skied with two of my favorite chick riders all day.. Katie and Breanna..these girls can TEAR IT UP!!
Also..I took this photo of myself after an epic run on this powdery Sunday with a couple of sweet face shots.. and I managed to score a little powder/snow mustache. Had to capture this in photograph...

Well once the powder was skied out..how about a BBQ in the terrain park?!!?  That's right.. I skied through park and noticed a sign that read "Free Fun Hot Dogs" and a BBQ grill set up on one of the box features.
Had to grab one of these tasty dogs before I kept riding on this beautiful sunny day...

And here is Ryan from the Brian Head Park Crew..he was the official hot dog Barbequer..Thanks Ryan for making us these delightful wieners!!

Well. I had Monday off from class due to President's day..so I took advantage of the beautiful sunny holiday and nearly 4 feet of fresh snow from the previous week..and made my way to the Head!
Decided to hike the peak which was filled and full of untracked pow.. wow what a view and what a day!!

Brian Head Resort has a much improved base, plenty of fresh snow and sunshine..so get up here!! We thank the Snow Gods for their lovely presents this past week..and we pray for more soon to come!!

Christmas in February? And the Snow Gods are posing as Santa!!

Ahh yes..the powder has reached us at last! On February 2nd we received nearly 17 inches of Utah's best powder..and let me tell you..it was the best!! The Snow Gods finally left us a nice fluffy white dump! It felt quite like a late Christmas present from the Snow gods themselves..Friday morning rolled around and I decided to take a day off from my 8 AM  chemistry class and hustle to Brian Head to get first chair!

I did indeed get first chair... :) For all you powder pigs that made it up there that morning..you can vouch for me..a perfect day!
A beautiful view of Chair 2 before open in the clouds..

Since Chair 2 had some technical difficulties for about half the day on Friday..I found some powder buddies and skied Chair 5 until 2 opened!
Now we all know that "Powder Rules" hold true on a day like this day..If you can't keep up..well maybe catch you in a few chairs!
Chair 5 untouched first chair...
A few Pow turns by the early bird powder pigs..

Ahh yes.. happy to be shredding..happy to be alive..it just doesn't get much better than this :)
And just when I thought a majority of the lines were slashed and the runs where fairly tracked..Chair 2 opened!! More powder! I headed immediately to Chair 7 and this is what was in store for me and my powder buddies..

Just a couple more photos from this beautiful day!

Well..the good news is that we have nearly doubled the coverage at Brian Head Resort, no more rocks!! And although most of the lines have been shredded..you can STILL find fresh tracks if you search, even now! We are all crossing our fingers for the next big pow storm..I'm most sure we will receive it sooner than later. Happy Shredding to all!!

Monday, January 30, 2012

It has finally happened..we received over 15 inches of soft, light powder..Utah's finest of course! Our base at Brian Head Resort has increased to nearly 30 inches!!  The coverage has improved immensely..no more rocks! It felt so good to slash some turns through fresh snow..I finally had my first real powder day of the season last Sunday after it dumped nearly 10 inches of freshies! I had almost forgotten what it is like to ski powder..there is nothing comparable to it! The peaceful turns, the floaty-feeling, it's almost like you are a bird soaring through the clouds!
This is a picture of some of the fresh turns under Chair 2..ahh how beautiful. Thank you Snow Gods!

Once the powder was skied out..you can always find me somewhere near one of Brian Head's two terrain parks! The Brian Head Terrain Park Crew   has recently changed up the parks, so there is now an intermediate/advance park and a beginner park.  Both are very fun with many creative and exciting features!  Get out there and shred your stuff!!
Just a few of us seshing a box on a beautiful sunny day in the park..

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and gets their share of the fluffy stuff!!!
